Ixabepilone
Ixabepilone (Ixempra T) was recently approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use in the treatment of metastatic or locally advanced breast cancer. Ixabepilone, in combination with capecitabine, may be used in patients with metastatic or locally advanced breast cancer who have failed an anthracycline and a taxane. Ixabepilone may be used as monotherapy in patients with metastatic or locally advanced breast cancer with a failure of an anthracycline, a taxane and capecitabine. At this time any other utilization would be considered investigational and not medically reasonable or necessary.
